Ingredients300g Plain flour125g Self-raising flour125g Sugar125g Butter125g Golden syrup1 Large egg1 tsp Vanilla paste
MethodPreheat the oven to 160℃. Line a large baking tray with greaseproof paper. In a large mixing bowl, or standing mixer, add the dry ingredients (including optional flavours) and mix together. Cube the butter and then mix into the flour to a crumbly consistency. Add the golden syrup and mix in.Finally add the eggs and/or vanilla paste if using. Keep mixing till a dough forms and crumbs can’t be seen at the bottom of the mixing bowl. Dust the work surface with a little flour and then use a rolling pin to roll the dough out to 3mm-5mm thickUse a cookie cutter to cut out shapes and place onto the baking tray. Bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes until golden brown. Leave to cool before enjoying the cookies right away or decorate with royal icing
